NABS Photo Contest Entry
Term:
NABS 1st Annual Photo Contest begins July 12th, 2010 and ends October 1st, 2010. By submitting an entry, each contestant agrees to the rules of the contest and states that they are 18 years old and older.
Who may enter:
NAB' Photographers ages 18 and over who are in good standing (dues paid). NABS Board Members are not eligible to enter.
What to enter:
The three contest categories are as follows:
- Best Macro - close up pictures of sea life
- Best Underwater Photo - underwater pictures of sea life or plants
- Best Above Water Photo - above water pictures of anything
Photographs must have been shot by the entrant within the past three (3) years (since January 1, 2007). No aquarium or pool shots. Cropped photos are eligible in all categories. We do not accept digitally or otherwise enhanced or altered photos. Minor adjustments, including spotting, dodging and burning, contrast and slight color adjustment or the digital equivalents, are acceptable.
Photographs that have won any other contest or have been published in magazines and newspapers are not eligible. Photos that violate or infringe upon another person's copyright are not eligible.
Marine life should never be stressed or endangered for the sake of a photo, entries exhibiting this will be disqualified.
Prizes:
There will be one winner in each category. The winner will receive:
- Plaque with the winners name, winning picture and category won.
- $50 Visa card
- Picture posted on website for three months
How to enter:
Fill out entry form, and submit the entry form and the photographs on-line to fwhittington@msn.com. We do not accept photographs submitted through the mail.
Contestants can submit up to five (5) photographs per category. The entry fee includes the fee for the first photo entered (the first photo is free). Each additional photo submitted after the first, is $5 dollars per picture.
You can enter as many categories as you want, but you can only enter 5 pictures per category, and you need to use separate entry form for each category.
Photographs must be in a .jpeg, .jpg or .gif format. Files submitted may not be larger than 2,048k (2Mb).
By entering the contest, entrants grant NABS a royalty-free, world-wide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, reproduce, and create derivative works of the entries, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or subsequently developed, for any NABS purpose, including, but not limited to advertising, Web site, and exhibition. Any photograph reproduced will include a photographer credit.
Entry fee:
The cost is $20 per entry. Contestants can enter up to five pictures in each of the categories listed above. The cost will be $20 per entry, first photo is free, and any additional photos are $5 per photo, with a max of five photos per category. The entry form has a payment total field on the last page, figure out the amount owed based on the amount of pictures you are submitting.
Payment needs to be made on NABS E-Commerce site. When you go to the site, you need to select the "contest" category on the left menu bar, and this will bring you to the contest entry page where you pay the entry fee. At the shopping cart page there is a box that will ask you what category are you entering in the contest. Your photos will not be entered into the contest until payment is received.
Entry deadline:
All entries must be submitted to fwhittington@msn.com by August 31st at 5pm Eastern Time. All payments due must be made on the NABS E-Commerce site by August 31st at 5pm Eastern Time.
Judging:
NABS members in good standing will vote for the pictures on the website starting September 5th.. They will select the best photos in each category. The NABS members will vote on the photos by selecting the number associated with it, the photos will not have a name associated with them. Only one vote in each category per NABS ID #.
The photograph with the largest number of votes will be declared the winner in the category. The winners and their photographs will be announced at the NABS Summit in Costa Rica.
